Our Assets

Sage Butte Energy owns 146,000 highly contiguous acres in the core of the Powder River Basin. We believe the Powder River is a leading stacked-pay basin in the United States.

Sage Butte Energy’s assets are located primarily in Converse County, as well as in Campbell and Johnson Counties. We currently have eight developed benches, including the Niobrara, Frontier and Shannon, which are among the most attractive benches for production in the basin. As recent technological and operational improvements proliferate throughout the Powder River basin, other horizons have become increasingly attractive as well.

The Powder River Basin possesses the key attributes of a premier oil play:

  • High oil cut
  • Nearly a mile of column thickness
  • Attractive economics
